IT ALL BEGAN

In July 1998, the founders Iakovos and Debbie Xanthopoulos embarked on a project to service the Greek community in Australia by developing lines of products from their parents and Grandparents homeland in Greece.

They greatly missed the good foods and ingredients of their homeland. The Xanthopoulos Family decided to start a business baking traditional home made products using recipes which went back many generations.

One of the lines most in demand was Sweet Loaf. The traditional Sweetloaf loaf could not be found in selected continental shops. Immediately they began developing a packaged Sweet Loaf for the Greek palate.

In early 2004 the Xanthopoulos family purchased their first factory, and developed more products under the famous Olympian Specialty Products brand.

1999

Olympian Foods, established by Iakovos Xanthopoulos and Debbie Xanthopoulos, supplies Greek food products to Greek communities in Australia. As part of Olympian Foods’ product line, the company offers Grissinis, Trahanas, and Egg Pasta.

2000

Gaganis Bros, Global Foods, Veeos Foods, Triton Foods, and Mega Continental become Olympian Products distributors in Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth.

2003

In order to expand the market’s offerings, Greek-style Sweet Loaf bread was added to the market. Creating a nationwide market.

2005

As part of the homestyle biscuits, launched Almond Crescents, Melomakarona, Koulourakia, and Paximadia, using only natural ingredients and old-fashioned cooking methods.

2010

Woolworths begins selling Sweet Loaf Bread, Sesame Biscotti, and Easter Tsoureki.

2015

Stocked our products in Coles Supermarkets, providing customers with a more convenient way to purchase Olympian Foods products, as well as opening our market to other nationalities.

2016

The Sweetloaf brand wins the best selling product in Coles Supermarkets’ international category.

2018

Customers in remote areas can now purchase them directly from us online through our e-commerce online store.

2019

In celebration of our 20th anniversary, we expanded our product line to 40 products.

2020

Gluten-free products were introduced to the market.

2021

A new category of café products is created, and the market is opened to cafes.

2022

Aside from rebranding, Olympian Foods introduces exciting new products, such as coffee, olive oil, frappe machines, biscuits, pasta, and more.
