How we got started
It all began with a memory…
In July 1998, the founders Iakovos and Debbie Xanthopoulos embarked on a project to service the Greek community in Australia by developing lines of products from their parents and Grandparents homeland in Greece.
They greatly missed the good foods and ingredients of their homeland. The Xanthopoulos Family decided to start a business baking traditional home made products using recipes which went back many generations.
One of the lines most in demand was Sweet Loaf. The traditional Sweetloaf loaf could not be found in selected continental shops. Immediately they began developing a packaged Sweet Loaf for the Greek palate.
In early 2004 the Xanthopoulos family purchased their first factory, and developed more products under the famous Olympian Specialty Products brand.
Olympian products were originally sold through markets and delicatessens specialising in European products and imports. Since this time more people have developed the taste for Olympian and it is now a dominant market player in Greek baked goods available nationally in selected supermarkets.
